Meeting Marek for the very first time carried a unique thrill. He had zero prior knowledge of me—no videos, no previous matches, nothing. That complete lack of familiarity made the encounter far more entertaining on my end. Backstage, his confidence was obvious. He made it clear he understood the sport, expected to present a real challenge, and believed I would struggle against him. I simply nodded and answered softly, eyes down, giving him the quiet, unassuming reaction I usually do. Once we stepped onto the mats, the reality proved very different from his expectations. The session opened with a full fifteen minutes of genuine competitive jiu-jitsu, both of us fighting hard for control and points. That was followed by a five-minute round in which the winner could decide the loser’s consequences. I will leave the outcome for the footage to reveal, though it is safe to say initial impressions do not always hold up. This particular match also holds a personal significance for me.
